Redefining Our Ambition

23 Jan 2024

What is your career ambition? Is it to be significant in your industry, to be an authority figure, to make a lot of money, to gain prestige? I wanted all those things—as a Christian!

When the Tax Reform Act of 1986 passed, I had many large development projects unfunded. People had to be laid off, expenses slashed, lenders contacted—a very humbling experience. I had spent seven years borrowing wheelbarrows full of money, and it eventually took another seven years to satisfy all my debts.

I found out that God’s secret of job contentment is not getting what we want, but redefining what we need. What we need is to humbly serve our God in our work.

Until every church disciples every man…
