Why Men Will Visit Our Churches, and What To Do About It

23 Jan 2024

This weekend hundreds of thousands men will visit our churches – either for the first time or after a long absence. Some will attend with wives, some with families, some alone. Why? Why are they coming? What are the problems they are trying to solve?

Unless in your church there are some men who have thought through these questions so they understand why men visit and are ready to engage those men, take them under their wings, and show them the ropes, then we have failed Jesus at the one place where he most wants us to succeed – making disciples.

If God had wanted, He could easily change those men without our help. Instead, in His wisdom and for His own reasons, God has chosen to mediate His message through us…

“All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us” (2 Corinthians 5:18-20).

Disciple-makers understand that regardless of why a man walks through the front door of their church, and regardless of what problem that man is trying to solve, the ONLY solution is to disciple him into the gospel of Jesus.

Making disciples is, and always has been, the only way God has designated to release the power of his gospel on each and every problem that men and their families face.

Until every church disciples every man…
