No amount of success at work can ever compensate for failure at home. As men we tend to compartmentalize our families when we’re at work, but not our work when we’re with our families. In other words, our bodies are home, but our minds are still at work.
Here’s a suggestion: Try putting all your work cares in a mental briefcase or lunchpail each day a few minutes before you get home. Then at a set place, mentally toss the briefcase/lunchpail out of your car or truck window at a set place, like an underpass or into a creek as you go over a bridge. That way, when you arrive home you will really be there.
