In the historic 7-1 loss of Brazil to Germany in the World Cup semi finals, Germany staggered Brazil with a couple of early goals from which they never recovered. One commentator said the problem was that Brazil came out thinking they were going to win on emotion, rather than by depending on structure and organization. He said, “If you are playing an emotional game and things go against you, you don’t have a basis of structure, of teamwork, of team play (to fall back on).”
What a great lesson for Christians! I love emotion. Who doesn’t love to “feel” the passion of God coursing through their veins? But when God calls us to a task, let’s not expect to win just because we really, really want it. When God calls us to a task, we need to get organized.
