Jesus came to reveal the Father to the world, and He has delegated the revealing to us. The question is how do we show people we are His disciples?
Is it about making sure they have the right information? Theology is precious, but Jesus didn’t say, “All men will know you are my disciples if you perfect your theology.”
Is it about showing them why they’re wrong? While it’s crucial for people to understand their misconceptions about Jesus, it’s not, “All men will know you are my disciples if you can explain to them why they’ve got it all wrong.”
Is it about proving Christianity is true? It is true, but it’s not, “All men will know you are my disciples if you can prove Christianity is true.” Ultimately, we can’t. That’s the work of the Spirit of truth.
So what can we do? We can love one another. Jesus said, “All men will know you are my disciples if you love one another” (John 13:35). Love is always the loudest voice in any room. That’s why Jesus chose love as the key way for us to reveal we are His disciples.
Until every church disciples every man…
