How ironic that God is everywhere, and yet still so mysterious. But He is not nearly as mysterious as we might first think. That’s because insider information is available. God has made it possible for us to gain a “flawless” understanding of who He is, what He is like, and how to know Him personally–His person, character, and attributes–through Jesus.
For example, here are my five favorite verses about Jesus: Jesus is the visible image of the invisible God (Colossians 1:15). He is all of God in the human body (Colossians 2:9). He is the exact representation of God’s being (Hebrews 1:3). Jesus said, “The Father and I are one” (John 10:30). And, “He who has seen me has seen the Father” (John 14:9). Everything that is true of God is also true of Jesus.
So when we want to know more about what God is like, study Jesus. Listen to Him. Get to know Him. To know Jesus is to know exactly what God is like, because He is God.
The Bible records 34,450 words spoken by Jesus. That’s the equivalent of roughly ten 30 minutes sermons. Of course, the entire Bible points to Jesus (John 5:39), but the “red letter” words are good place to start.
Jesus “is” the insider information God offers so that you and I can know for sure exactly what He is like.
Until every church disciples every man…
