How do we get caught up in the rat race? In Galatians 5:7 Paul asks the question this way: “You were running a good race. Who cut in on you and kept you from obeying the truth?”
Wanting what the world has to offer, we catch “success sickness”–always wanting more, never happy when we get it. Tired, pressured, restless—many of of us have a pervasive lack of contentment. We’re way too busy. Unfortunately, the price of this pace is peace.
The problem? Paul gives us the answer two verses later. The problem is that, “A little yeast works its way through the whole batch of dough” (Gal. 5:9).
In short, we have created a culture which requires more energy than men have to give.
But there is another race–God’s race. How do we win this race? Actually, it’s already won. All we have to do is finish by fixing our eyes on Jesus, “the author and perfecter of our faith” (see Hebrews 12:1–3).
Until every church disciples every man…
