We all want to grow and become spiritually mature. But not all of us do. So why do some of us thrive while others stagnate? No doubt you can add to my list, but among the men I personally most look up to, these seven spiritual disciplines differentiate them from men who have plateaued…

1. They practice regular private devotions
2. They have a Paul (or two) as mentors
3. They’re part of a life-on-life small group
4. They pray with and for their spouse 
5. They tithe
6. They attend church
7. They reproduce themselves by making disciples

None of these earn merit for salvation. They are the effort we put forth because we have salvation. “For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law” (Romans 3:28).
