We all know culture is increasingly hostile toward Judeo-Christian values. I know you care, but what can we do?
Complaining doesn’t help. My Dad was such a sweet man…until the evening news came on. He would sit in front of the TV and rant, even though he knew this truth: Complaining may feel good, but it doesn’t change a thing.
Jesus didn’t commission us to decry the decline of culture. Ranting only turns people off. And not just nonbelievers, but ranting turns off Christians too. Instead, Jesus commissioned us to go do something about the state of His creation by making disciples.
Those disciples, in turn, will “lead a quiet life” and “win the respect of outsiders” (1 Thessalonians 4:11-12) as they go about their work in business, government, education, healthcare, the military, law, medicine, the building trades, services, entertainment, banking, high tech and elsewhere. And importantly, as we can see all around us, their values inform their actions, decisions, and the policy they make. Christians are everywhere. And that’s the Gospel way to “change a thing.”
Making disciples is something that will actually move the needle.
Until every church disciples every man…
