As a camping rookie, I marveled as a beautiful campfire burst into flame. However, within a few minutes the kindling was gone, and the flames started to die down. Then one of the larger logs crackled, and a tongue of fire began to lick the side of not only that log, but also the log beside it. The updraft of the two logs together soon led to a roaring fire. It was obvious those logs needed each other to burn.

Then, as the fire became mature, one of the logs fell away, and the flame soon died out. But once reunited with the other logs, instantly it burst back into flames.

And every time I took an unlit log and put it with the already on-fire logs, it would ignite within moments. Success was guaranteed.

It is for good reasons that the Bible says, “Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing” (Hebrews 10:23). Together, we burn brightly. But separated, it’s hard to keep the flame going, isn’t it? We are always better together.
