We’re just back from camping at 4,000 feet in NC. My last act was getting up at 4 AM to star gaze.
Since we’re millions of light-years away from the stars, isn’t it odd that a few thousand feet up a mountain makes so much difference?
Yet something magical happens. The little stars come out of hiding. At 4,000 feet, the universe puts on display some of its finest china.
In moments like these we are overcome with wonder, awe, reverence, worship, praise, and thanksgiving for, and to, the Creator of it all. Just the idea that there even “is” a universe at all is so humbling. Why is there something instead of nothing? Why is it that this place sustains life?
We must be very important to the Maker of it all.
Involuntary praise erupts from the depths of our freshly fed souls: Glory to God in the highest and, on this fleck we call Earth, peace and goodwill to all men. Through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
Until every church disciples every man…
