3 Reasons Not To Get Frustrated Over What We Don't Understand

21 Jan 2024

God has given us so much. And I’m grateful. But sometimes, like yesterday, I get frustrated when something happens that I just don’t understand. You know, something so bad that you just can’t make heads or tails out of it.

Here are three of the many truths helping me get my head straight…

1. God has revealed precious things to us, but for His own reasons He keeps many secrets.

Deuteronomy 29:29 says, “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.”

2. More knowledge and wisdom are just as likely to create more sorrow than satisfaction.

Solomon put it like this in Ecclesiastes 1:16-18, “I said in my heart, ‘I have acquired great wisdom, surpassing all who were over Jerusalem before me, and my heart has had great experience of wisdom and knowledge.’ And I applied my heart to know wisdom and to know madness and folly. I perceived that this also is but a striving after wind. For in much wisdom is much vexation, and he who increases knowledge increases sorrow.”

3. It is good to be content with what God has revealed rather than twist ourselves into knots over what He has not revealed.

David wrote in Psalms 131:1-2, ” LORD, my heart is not lifted up; my eyes are not raised too high; I do not occupy myself with things too great and too marvelous for me. But I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child is my soul within me.”

If you have other truths, please share. I could use them, and I’m sure many others could too!

Until every church disciples every man…
