If God is sovereign – and in control – why work and pray?

To show the relationship between “prayer” and “work” – and the importance of both – Dwight L Moody once said, “We pray like it is all up to God; we work like it is all up to us.”

Here’s how I think we should understand Moody. 

Simply: Since God is in control, our prayer-directed work will actually make a difference. 

Work without prayer is like taking a butter knife to a gun fight.
