For those of us who love Jesus, one New Year’s resolution more or less sums up all the rest: to make a full, total, complete, surrender of our lives to the Lordship of Jesus.
That’s how I want to live, and deep down every Christian I know feels the same way. But what does that mean?
To fully surrender means that in our heart of hearts we trust God is working out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will.
We believe that He knows what we are going through, that He cares, and that He has the power and desire to do something about it. This is why Christians can pray “Lord, Thy will be done.”
So Lord, this year please give us the wisdom to understand Your will, the faith to trust You without reservation, and the power of Your Holy Spirit to lead a fully surrendered life.
The irony of this kind of surrender is that it leads not to defeat, but victory.
