The Gracious Removal of the Shakable Kingdom

23 Jan 2024

Once a man has exchanged the truth of God for a lie and the glory of God for an idol, he will never get back on track apart from the merciful grace of our loving God.

Yet even when God extends his loving hand, men still resist him if their idol shows even the slightest sign of life, or the slimmest possibility of resuscitation.

This is why God must intervene.

Like a caring surgeon cutting out brain cancer, God roots out the idols that ensnare us….

“This phrase, ‘Yet once more,’ indicates the removal of things that are shaken—that is, things that have been made—in order that the things that cannot be shaken may remain” (Hebrews 12:27).

So how should we respond to the removal of the shakable kingdom?

“Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire” (Hebrews 12:28-29).

It is painful when we lose the idol that we were certain would make us happy.

However, in due time we will understand that God has spared us from destroying ourselves with created things.

And we will be thankful. So thankful.

Thank you, Father, for removing the shakable kingdom that was keeping us from a full, total, complete surrender to the Lordship of Jesus.

Until we reach every man…

Pat
