You may be surprised to learn that work is not the result of the fall of man. Yes, God did curse the ground because of the sin of Adam and Eve, but He established work as a holy pursuit before they sinned. “The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it” (Genesis 2:15).
It was later, when Satan tempted Adam and Eve, that God cursed the ground and prescribed that “through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life” (Genesis 3:17). It’s the ground that is cursed, not work.
Work is holy—it’s how God intended us to occupy a high percentage of our time in the perfection of His creation plan. Your work is be an act of worship.
